Wordless Wednesday hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom.
Ari didn’t take a nap today. She sat at the lunch table and declared, “Mommy, my tired! My go bed now!” As is customary when a toddler volunteers herself to sleep, especially when she’s supposed to be asleep anyway, I wrapped her up, gave her milk and a binky, read her a story, and kissed her goodnight.
Fast forward THREE HOURS and she was still upstairs, reading books in bed to her dolls and occasionally calling through the closed door, “MOMMY! My still awake! More milk please!”
So by the time dinner came around my little wakeybutt munchkin was just about ready to keel over. In fact, she sat in front of her chicken nuggets and fell completely asleep. Her head kept flopping over like that really fat guy who sits next to you on the airplane and drools in his sleep and can’t seem to keep his head up and cradles your shoulder with his ear and a big pile of drool ends up on your shirt but you don’t want to wake him up because you feel bad that he’s obviously so tired that he can sleep like that. That’s pretty much what she was doing.
So at this point, I did what any good mother would do. No, I didn’t immediately scoop up her pinchable cuteness and tuck it into bed, have you met me? I grabbed a phone and video taped it for the amusement of the interwebz. Enjoy.
